Horary answers a specific question from the chart of the moment it was asked. No birth data — the question itself is the chart.

What you get

  • A chart for the exact moment and place the question was put
  • Querent and quesited significators derived from the houses
  • Applying and separating aspects between the significators, with perfection identified
  • Receptions — which planet is in whose dignity, and whether the reception is mutual
  • The Moon's testimony: its next aspect, its void-of-course condition, and its mansion
  • The traditional considerations before judgement, flagged rather than hidden

How it works

In horary the chart is cast for the moment the astrologer understands the question, at the place it is received. The Ascendant and its ruler stand for the person asking; the house that matches the subject, and its ruler, stand for the thing asked about.

The answer comes from whether those two significators can reach each other before something interrupts. A perfecting aspect says yes. A separating one, or a significator that changes sign first, usually says no. Reception softens or hardens the verdict: a planet arriving in another's domicile is received as a guest rather than an intruder.

The Moon is the third witness and often the decisive one. Where she is going next, and whether she makes any aspect at all before leaving her sign, frequently settles a chart that the significators leave ambiguous.
